Meet Melrose, Our New Massage Therapist!

Melrose Wingett knew she wanted to be a massage therapist by the time she was eleven years old. Her passion for this field comes from a fundamental desire to help others, and a love of biology and the human body. After more than six years in the field, Melrose is still in awe of human physiology. Now, as a dual licensed massage therapist and esthetician, Melrose’s passion has expanded into the world of natural skincare and beauty. She is excited to be a part of the team of like-minded practitioners at Natural Health and Healing! When Melrose isn’t in the office, she enjoys playing roller derby with Grand Raggidy Roller Derby, or playing board games with her fiance.

Modalities Offered

Swedish Massage

Organic massage oil is used with smooth, gliding strokes. Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits. It is a classic massage that will ease your stress and allow you to slip into a calm state of relaxation.

Deep Tissue Massage

Designed to remove severe tension, deep tissue massage is a technique used to relieve both muscles and connective tissue below the surface. It helps to improve range of motion and heal injuries below the surface.

Sports Massage

Sports massage uses a variety of massage techniques, including stretching and range of motion techniques, designed to help your body feel freer and stronger. It is particularly great for those with active lifestyles.

Hot Stone Massage

Smooth stones are heated to a safe temperature and used as an extension of the therapist’s hands. The therapeutic effects of heat allow muscles to relax more deeply and promote a tremendously calming and centering experience.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage focuses on addressing the special needs of expecting women. Cushions and side-lying postures may be used to prevent putting pressure on the abdomen. The changes caused by pregnancy can be exciting but also stressful! Massage can be quite effective at diminishing the physical, mental and emotional stress involved in the creation of new life.

TMJD Massage

Temporo mandibular joint dysfunction (TMJD) is characterized by tension or discomfort in the jaw’s soft tissue, and/or misalignment of the jaw. TMJD affects up to 12-15% of the population, and can be treated with the help of your dentist and a massage therapist. TMJD massage focuses on the muscles of the jaw and surrounding areas, including the neck, upper back, and scalp. Schedule this 30 minute session on its own or add it to a full body massage.

Reiki

Reiki is an energy technique which originated in Japan. Using a technique commonly called palm or hands on healing, the practitioners place their hands on their client and transfer universal energy (reiki) in the form of qi through the palms, which allows for self-healing and a state of equilibrium. Reiki is recognized by the scientific community as being particularly effective in reducing pain, and is currently used in Western medical hospitals all over the nation. Anyone can receive Reiki, even clients who are in too much pain to receive a massage or can’t receive massage because of other contraindications.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a technique that focuses on specific pressure points within your feet to help correct energy flows throughout your body. Points within your feet correspond with every part of your body. Although the practitioner might only be working on your feet during a reflexology session, you may find you feel relief in the other areas of your body that correspond.

Chair Massage

Chair massage is performed in a specially designed chair with your clothes on. Your therapist will use compressions over your clothing to provide relief to tight muscles. It is excellent for relaxation when you are on the go and don’t have time for a full body table massage.
